Asked as eight separate questions, an evaluation is eight screens of the same five words and response rates collapse halfway down. As one grid it is a single glance — which is the difference between an evaluation a department can act on and one that twelve people finished. Course and teaching are separate rows on purpose: merged into a single score, a brilliant teacher carrying dull material and a dull teacher with brilliant material both come out average, and neither problem is ever found.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a course evaluation?

A course evaluation rates the material. This one separates the material from the person teaching it, and puts every statement on one grid so the whole thing is answerable at a glance.

Is it anonymous?

It asks for no identifying detail. The last question asks permission before any comment is quoted in a review, and the copy promises quotes are never attributed.

Can I change the statements?

Yes — the grid's rows and its agreement columns are both editable, so you can match an existing evaluation instrument rather than adopt ours.
