The income band is asked once, plainly, with a 'rather not say' that disqualifies nobody — and the hardship box opens only for the people applying to the hardship fund, so nobody else is made to justify their circumstances to win a merit award.

Frequently asked questions

Can one form cover several different awards?

Yes — the award is a choice question, and the questions that only apply to one of them appear only for that choice. Applicants who want two awards submit twice.

How do I keep the panel from seeing names?

Export the responses and hide the name column before circulating. The template's own copy tells applicants their name is removed before the essay is read, so set your process up to match it.

Can applicants attach a transcript?

Yes, and it is required. There is a referee field too, which the copy makes clear is only contacted if the applicant is shortlisted.
